meanwhile back at the ranch...

it appears that the rest of us were asleep as usual while the bush gang of desperados have been at it again...with a vengeance .

An internet acquaintance , mentioned this evening , that after viewing the film 'Fahrenheit 9-11' , by Michael Moore , the audience gave it a standing ovation .

She also commented that because of efforts of people like Moore in exposing to the public , the high crimes and misdemeanors connected with Papa Bush and the Baby bush regime ,that in November 2004, " Bush can only win the election by stealing it...again"

Well guess what?

Yup...you guessed right...according to BBC's award winning American journalist Greg Palast , that's exactly what the rightwinged bush bandits already have in the works for the election of 2004 . Here's an excerpt from an article Palast recently authored ...more of his work is available at Greg Palast.com
"VANISHING VOTES

Nation Magazine, May 17, 2004 Issue

by Greg Palast

On October 29, 2002, George W. Bush signed the Help America Vote Act
(HAVA).

Hidden behind its apple-pie-and-motherhood name lies a nasty
civil rights time bomb...

------------

First, the purges.

In the months leading up to the November 2000
presidential election, Florida Secretary of State Katherine Harris, in
coordination with Governor Jeb Bush, ordered local election supervisors to
purge 57,700 voters from the registries, supposedly ex-cons not allowed
to vote in Florida. At least 90.2 percent of those on this "scrub" list,
targeted to lose their civil rights, are innocent. Notably, more than
half--about 54 percent--are black or Hispanic.
You can argue all night
about the number ultimately purged, but there's no argument that this
electoral racial pogrom ordered by Jeb Bush's operatives gave the White
House to his older brother. HAVA not only blesses such purges, it
requires all fifty states to implement a similar search-and-destroy mission
against vulnerable voters. Specifically, every state must, by the 2004
election, imitate Florida's system of computerizing voter files. The law
then empowers fifty secretaries of state--fifty Katherine Harrises--to
purge these lists of "suspect" voters.

In fact Palast asserts his research has revealed that in "the land of the free and the home of the brave" of the 1.9 million votes faithfully cast , but somehow not counted during the 2000 presidential election , about 1 million of them were Black votes...American democracy proves once again , to be merely a very interesting belief...

ps. this is another good 'visual' by eric blumrich about former florida secretary of state katherine harris and her role in the theft of election 2000. http://www.ericblumrich.com/gta.html

I know it is against the grain of "normal" black politics and sociology and some would even say that it plays into the hands of the republicans, but I believe that the black vote is all but useless to blacks and we, with few exceptions like local elections, ought to sit one out while we get our collective acts together. How many "Black leaders" jumped onto the H. Dean bandwagon only to watch that ship sink? Kerry steals Deans thunder and then goes center-right with his platforms. He made lukewarm motions about Affirmative Action and spit at us regarding reparations. There was this huge mantra among "leadership" about the electability of a candidate, yet it seems that Kerry would win besides himself and is apparently sending his message to middle America and undecided voters because he knows that Blacks will vote Democratic regardless.

the next thing is the numbers of black males (and females) who are getting caught up in the Legal system and having their rights revoked. I can understand revoking the voting ability of someone serving time, but it makes no sense to continue to disenfranchise (legally) a person after their debt to the state has been fulfilled. Where's the CBC on this issue?

Also I would like to know how recently immigrated Africans vote. Given that they may not share the same historical animosity towards republicans,it could be that they would be targetted by republicans. As little as it is known, recently immigrated Africans and their offspring represent a growing group of what is collectively referred to as African-Americans.

i think Malcolm was right when he said we should register enmass as independents instead of democrats or republicans , and throw our support as a block to the party that delivers the most tangible rewards .

we should be able to say that we want "XYZ" done from the next administration , and here is the number of votes we represent.

which ever party agrees to include "XYZ" into their platform and agenda and IMPLEMENT it once in power , is the party we go out and support with our numbers of votes on election day .

no more blind loyalty to a party because of past deeds...as we did for first the republicans because they were the party of lincoln and then for the democrats because of franklin roosevelt , kennedy and lyndon johnson .

as you know , the party of lincoln sold us down the river in the election of 1876 , abandoning us to the same southern "demon-crats" who once owned us , a sellout which led to the loss of our civil and human rights during the resulting 90 or so years of jim crow apartheid segregation and sharecrop-system economic exploitation .

it was the "demon-crats" turn to sell us out in the election of 2000 by not raising a peep while the bush family and the rest of the "repugnant-cans" pulled their shenanigans in florida .

gore whimped out and where has bill clinton been for the past 4 years besides chasing tail up in harlem and signing books on his recent tour ?

our rights were grossly violated and not one whimper from bill or al ...in my book they both suck !

As Malcolm warned us , a democrat is a fox-- a republican is a wolf .

both are members of the canine family . they both show their teeth at us , but we think one is friendly and grinning at us ...but they are just 'showing their teeth'... we put the democrats in the whitehouse and they put us in the dog house .

if we show some sense as a voting group , i think the african immigrants here as well as other groups of immigrant blacks would largely show solidarity with us...but only if we showed some sense for a change .
